Meet Our Teachers Opal Singer Tammy McMearty

Opal Singer Principal & Teacher of Grades 5-8 Hi, my name is Opal Singer, the new teacher/principal here at Humboldt Bay Christian School.  I am happy to be here to teach the 5-8th grades this year.  This is my first year in my own classroom but I have spent many years working with kids in various ways.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts from CSU Sacramento and recently finished a Master of Arts in Teaching from Walla Walla University.     I am moving here with my family from Walla Walla, WA where I was a substitute teacher for schools in the greater Walla Walla Valley.   I love working with kids and hope to instill in them a love for learning and a greater love for Jesus. I met my husband, David, at PUC where he was studying computer science and I was working toward my goal of being a teacher.  We are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Rachel, 11 and Aeryn,9 who will be students at HBCS this year.  We love spending time outdoors enjoying God’s nature with our dog, Cinnamon who is best friends with our cats, Patches and Mittens.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, singing, crochet, and gardening.  But most importantly, I enjoy spending time with my family.  I’m looking forward to a great year teaching the kids here at HBCS.  Feel free to stop by and say hi.
